Privacy Policy

This policy provides details on how the Jersey School of Motorcycling (JSM) will use personal data regarding its customers and employees.  It will do this through two Privacy statements, one for customers and the other for employees

Jersey School of Motorcycling Customer Privacy Statement

The Jersey School of Motorcycling (JSM) is committed to protecting your privacy and takes the protection of your personal information seriously.  We will collect only the information required to process your application efficiently and will use this information as described in this statement.

The information that we collect is the responsibility of the Data Controller who is the Company Secretary and, if necessary, can be contacted by phone or by email at the contact details on the web site and application form.

The Data we collect is as follows:

  • Gender
  • Full Name
  • Address
  • Contact telephone number
  • Email address
  • Size of motorcycle to be ridden
  • Unavailable dates
  • Date of Birth
  • Whether you have ridden before
  • If you will be fast tracking your licence
  • Licence number.`
  • CBT certificate number.
  • Insurance details.
  • Information regarding the reason for not achieving the standard required.

This data is collected from the form you complete and any subsequent conversation or correspondence with you.  We will use this information for the efficient planning of your training course, to contact you, to issue a certificate upon satisfactory completion of the course and to advise DVS.

JSM keeps this information for a period of three years following the last update after which time it is destroyed.

Data Sharing

Some or all of the information regarding persons attending a course is passed to JSM instructors who are providing the training course.

The data referred to above is recorded on a personal computer that is backed up on a hard drive.   Access to the computer is restricted to the Company Secretary and on occasions to other persons authorised by the Company secretary to cover absence.

The Jersey School of Motorcycling is appointed by The Minister under the MOTOR VEHICLES (DRIVING LICENCES) (JERSEY) ORDER 2003 and DVS provide the certificates in duplicate and require us to return the duplicate book to them when all the certificates have been issued.  In addition on a monthly basis DVS require the School to send them information regarding persons who have attended courses during the month, this includes:

  • Gender
  • Full Name
  • Address
  • Contact telephone number
  • Email address
  • Age
  • If the person reached the standard required for a certificate to be issued
  • If no certificate is issued, the reason(s)
  • If certificate is issued the unique number

DVS require this information for their records, statistics and for issuing duplicate certificates when necessary.

Your rights

You have the right to apply for a copy of the personal data we hold about you and to correct any inaccuracies.  You have the right to object to us processing any personal data about you or withdraw your consent but this may result in us or DVS not being able to deliver the service to you.

Should you wish to exercise any of your rights you will need to contact the Company Secretary who will advise you on what information you need to provide and how to proceed.
